How can I improve my gymnastics skill at home?

I am only 14 - I can't drive - and I really want to work out. I want to improve my gymnastics skills. But I don't have anyone to drive me to the gym! I need some simple workouts that will help my skills. Any help here? Thanks.

The best thing you can do at home to develop your gymnastics is work on your handstands. Handstands are the single most important skill in gymnastics. They are essential for every apparatus all you vaults pass though handstand, you need a good handstand on bars and all your tumbling skills on beam and floor like cartwheels, round offs, back handsprings and front handsprings pass through handstand. Spend 10-20 minutes a day on your hands. Try to hold handstands as long as you can, handstand walk when you need to go somewhere and do handstands against the wall. Stretching is also a good workout for home. Make sure you warm up first with 5 minutes of intense running, skipping and/or jumping. Do full body light stretches before getting into serious stretches. When you do splits hole each for at least a minute and do them 2 or 3 times each. Practise bridges too. A little conditioning and strength is good too. Holding basic shapes, push ups, sit ups, burpee's and so on can be done with very little extra space.

try stretching, push ups crunches, etc. its will help you on your flexibility.if you try to do cartwheels i have a few tips. First,when you are about to do a cart wheel make sure you are in a slight lunge position with your hand on the air.make sure you really push off your hands and legs and spread your arms and legs out.don't hold back!keep your legs strait.and you want to try to turn off when finishing.if you can, you might want to buy a trampoline.or practice in your backyard. and don't be afraid to get hurt!if your practicing IN your home, make sure you are on the first floor and on carpet. practice every day!(obviously) if you get something slightly above your waist try stretching on that. lets say its a chair. put on leg on it and see how far you can go! first try getting at least your head to your knees. then your chest, then your stomach. do it to each leg. an easier way to strength is to sit on the floor and put your legs in a straddle position, stretch as far as you can, to each leg. also in a pike position. backbends increase your flexibility you can just keep doing everything little by little each day instead all at once. push ups and crunches help too, by increasing your upper body strength. mountain climbs help your legs increase strength start lifting weights! one of the most important thing to remember is...DON'T BE AFRAID TO GET HURT!!!! First do some simple conditioning. Like about 30 of everything. Some simple conditioning skills are lunges,sit--ups,push-ups,toe risers(stand, push up and down on toes), handstand lifts( handstand, reach hands to shoulders one at a time), and toe reachers(lay on back, lift legs in the air and reach for them with your hands)! Then do some stretching. Stretch your arms,legs,shoulders,ankles, and wrists. That will help for flexibility. Then try the splits on each leg. Hold them both for 2 minutes each. You should trust me. I'm in gymnastics and this is what we do every time, and I go 3 days a week. I can tell that I've totally gotten stronger! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am a gymnast too, but luckily, there is a gym near my home. But when that got too time consuming, i had the smae problem as you. Getting a trampoline REALLY helped. it depends on what level you are, if you are pretty advanced, working on a grass area helps, but if your a beginner, its not a good idea (your could hurt yourself) if you just review the basic moves, the more advanced ones will come to you without much practice.

If you are asking for conditioning work outs then you need to do this 2x a day 100 N ups and then i do not remember what their called but you feet an hands go p and down at the same time you 60 of those an then push ups an Bridges .if you looking for practices i cant see how you could get anything done without a trampoline of a mat you could rid your bick to the gym and it would be xerciseze hope that helps try thes websits below'

okay i just turned 14 too. I drive my parents crazy having to drive 30 miles away twice a week but when ur at home if you just do the normal workout like stretch. i do 75-100 pushups and situps daily so u could practice with that until you start to have some upper body muscle then start practicing on your handstands and you can slowly advance to fronthand springs back hand springs etc.
