What Are Some Good Cheerleading Workouts?

What are a good cheerleading workouts to get in shape for cheerleading?

  • I have already made the cheerleading team, but I need a few good workouts to do during the summer, to keep me flexible and help me with my jumps. I already know about crunches, and leg lifts. Anything else that anyone can think of that will strengthen my leg and abdomen muscles, and tone my arms would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!! Thanks for all of the answers that I will recieve.

  • Answer:

For stretching: Leg flexibility - 1. Start on the ground in a pike position and reach for your toes with a flat back. 2. Transition into a stradle, reach forward with a flat back. 3. Staying in the stradle position reach for your left leg with both hands. 4. Do the same for your right. 5. Go back down to the middle of the straddle again. *Hold each stretch for about a minute, mabye a little more. Also to improve on stradle flexibility you can lay your back on the floor and have your legs lifted up against the wall and go into stradle, if you're having trouble getting your legs pressured down try ankle weights. Sitting in a lunge is also help for the front part of the leg which is important for scorpians. For ab muscle what I would do is 50 crunches with legs up, 50 with legs bent, 50 on the ground. Do that EVERY OTHER DAY. Leg muscle: 1. Go back and forth across the floor doing lunges, or if you have a loval gym with a leg press, those work crazy good. 2. Do toe raises, which is where you stand on one of the teps on stairs with your toes on it and heels off. Lift up and down pushing through your calf. *These will both help a lot with jumps! For arms I reccomend push ups. Def. Haha. Good luck!

Look at seventeen.com they have great workouts. Since you made the cheerleading team you should try and get into something that will be like a back bone to it, like gymnastics, or for many cheerleaders they would choose tumbling because gymnastics uses the bar and vault tumbling doesn't. But if you do tumbling that will get you ready and you could learn more moves and aton of cool things. But I think that stretching and running a bit will be pretty basic. Good luck cheerleading. =]
