What are some tips you can give me for volleyball tryouts?

I need volleyball tips. Please Please help?

  • Okay, so I'm going into high school next year, and was planning on doing a sport. I was planning to go out for volleyball, becuase it looks fun and I'm kind of good. I'm really nervous though that I'm not going to get on the team. It isn't like a volleyball pro, so I need some tips. I have the whole summer to get really good at volleyball. If you could I would really like some tips on playing. Are there daily drills I could possibly do to get better. I don't reallly have access to a volleyball court or a gym, so what are some at home practices I can do. I can buy a volleyball, and probably get someone to help and hit back and forth with. I just don't want to make a fool of myself at tryouts. Also what do tryout really consist of. Like do they make you run around and do push ups. Or do they have you play in a game. Because if they make you play in a game could you give me tips on how to stand out to the coaches. So thank you to everyone who answers this question. Any tips will help. Or any experiences. THANK YOU!!! :)

okay volleyball isn't all fun, just to clear that up. daily drills you could do are jumping rope, agility drills (such as ladders), and approach drills. (google that for hitting) you can also do setting drills to yourself just lay on your bed and do baby sets above your head. my high school try outs consist of the 3 tests in separate spheres of volleyball: hitting, passing. and setting. we usually get hit at so the coaches can see our ability to dig or pass. the we usually set to the 3 positions 4, 2, and 9. 4 is outside, 2 is middle, and 9 is back. Varsity runs 1 balls in the middle. then usually the coaches set us to see our hitting ability. later we do push ups, sit ups, and a mile run. then we have the vertical jump test to see how high you jump. and serving is very important to. so try to learn an overhand serve. hope you make it. good luck!

I've been playing volleyball for awhile now. Last year was my first year for high school tryouts and they weren't too intense. It depends on what school you go to, if you go to a school with better volleyball, the tryouts will mostly consist of hard workouts and how focused you are during the game. You should also call the ball loud enough so the coaches can hear so they know you know to call the ball. There are three main parts of volleyball, passing, setting, and hitting. Before tryouts definitely find out which position you enjoy. During tryouts, they will ask you to play the position you would play during the season, so make sure you know. If your a setter like me, make sure to call the spot were you're setting and after every play is over make sure you ask your hitter if your set was okay or too high or too low. That will really impress the coaches and make them think your concerned for your hitters. If your a a passer, make sure call the ball nice and loud for everybody to hear. If youre a hitter make sure you know the approach and call your spot for the stter to hear so she can set you. No matter what position you play, always be a good sport and the coaches will most likely choose you!

Hey I feel your concern, I was you 5 years ago. So here is some of my tips: In volleyball, there are 3 main positions, setter, power, and middle You should first decide which of these you wish to play. Setters rarely hit and they are the ones who usually get the second ball, after a pass, and set the pall to the power of middle to hit. You should be tall to be a middle, as they need to block oncomeing hits. And powers, well you gotta beable to hit, and hit good. There is also a libero (sometiems not all team have one) that will sub in only on back row and will jsut be there to be the main passer. Tell me which of these you would prefer (in additional info) to play and ill give you tips. As for tryouts, It depends. I remember mine was fitness and skill, so there was pushups and such. We got into groups and did a game aswell so the coach could see us play

run a little a day practice bumping and serving with somebody at home or against a wall
