Volleyball drills for young girls?
-
I'm a varsity volleyball player and I'm a coach for a Project Volleyball team at my volleyball club... I'm just starting off so I'm still getting use to coaching. I have a few basic drills that I do with the girls but I can tell they are getting bored. I would be sick off them too... they aren't very interesting. Anyone have any ideas for BASIC drills for them to do? keep in mind they are a max. of 12 years old. most of the are younger.... Thanks so much

Answer:
-knockout(serving game) you are on one side and kids on another girls serve one at a time to the side of the net you are on, trying to serve it to a spot where you cant return it. you try to return it to their side and the girl that served it and you volley until it hits the floor or goes out, if it hits the floor on your side, or you hit it out, she gets to go to end of the line and serve again. If it hits the floor on her side or she hits it out, she comes to your side of the net and volleys with you for rest of game. when everyone but one person is on your original side of net, the last person wins and game is over. -dead fish(serving game) half of girls go to one side of net and half to the other. girls on side one lie down in place(inside the court)and stay there, while girls on side two serve and try to hit the target(girls on side one) and if they hit another girl they lie down on side one and girl they hit serves. after a while have the original girls from side one serve and original side two lie down. the point of both knockout and this game is to aim when serving and placing yourself at strategic points where to not get hit, so you learn exactly where to serve it at -elimination-volleying game half of girls on side a and half on side b. they can stand wherever, as long as they are in the court. you throw the ball onto the court randomly and that side has 3 hits before they have to get it over. they volley until it hits the floor, goes out, or one team doesnt hit it over in 3 hits. when it goes out, the person that hits it out is "out" and has to stand on the side lines until they get back "in"(well get to that later) if the person who hits ball 3rd doesnt get it over, they are out, unless it was an impossible hit and was the person before theirs fault, then they go out, or the person before them goes out, but they must decide amongst their team who goes out if it is questionable. If it hits the floor in their side, they must decide who goes out, like if someone doesnt try to hit it and it hits the floor, they go out if just no one goes for it bc they think someone will, they must decide who goes out but someone has to go out everytime you would lose the serve if it were a real game. to get back in your side has to get three hits before it goes over the net. everytime they do that , one girl comes back in. if there is only one player left, you must get three volleys to get a player back in. when one team has no players left, they lose. the point of this game is to work on teamwork and volleying -circle the wagon(must have knee pads for this game) players get a partner and stand in the circle, one in front of the other. if there are 10 groups, you have nine balls, 9 groups, eight balls etc in the middle of the circle. you call mount and dismount over and over as many times as many times as you want, and the person in back mounts and dismounts on their partners back like they are going to have a piggyback ride. so when you call mount, they mount on their partners back, and dismount obviously they dismount then whenever you call "circle the wagon" the run around the circle then dive under their partners legs and tyr to grab a ball, who ever doesnt get a ball is out. so basically the "circle the wagon" part is like musical chairs. repeat until there is one team left. last team wins the point is to get them to use their kneepads and it helps with speed those are some of the fun games we did at camp and practice. a good way to motivate a team/person to win is the losers/loser has to give winner/winners 30 second ball massage- lol they feel really good thats what we did at a volleyball camp once
