How can I get noticed?

How else can i get noticed by the couches?

  • its tryouts during this week and next week. im a left handed right ride hitter, and im pretty good! i get some really nice, strong hits, probably some of the best in my age group ( im a sophomore ) i wanted to make JV and thats what everyone kinda expected. its been 3 days of tryouts and i feel like i havent been noticed. they have left me on 10 grade ( b- squad) instead of JV. there is only one right side hitter on JV and one on varsity, so i don't get why i havent gotten moved up yet! im one of the loudest people in the gym and get most of my passes on target, i have nice low serves, and on monday i learned jumpserve and im just getting it down ( they are good jump serves!!) i have bright shoe laces and t-shirt to get noticed. i don't know what else to do! i also ran my mile at 7:20 and i passed up 3 varsity players! what else do i do?! i really want to move up to jv!

I don't know if this will help or anything, but I am in volleyball also and we have 2 practices a day, mornings are conditiong, but anyways to get noticed, i don't know, we do partner drills sometimes and if you do then pick a spot by your coach?? Then they will watch you. One of our coaches told us this morning that they don't care how fast you are, they just want you to push yourself and be self disciplined. So just try to do everything they ask and show them that you are trying your best, it will definately be painful if you are not in shape.

I'm a lefty right-side hitter too! Seriously, if your tall, that's all you need to be noticed! Leftys are so rare and if you can hit too, you are an imeadiate asset. So you have probably already been noticed, but the coaches are watching everyone else. The fact that you want to push yourself more to be noticed more indicates that you are probably pretty competative haha. Just keep what you are doing and make sure you ALWAYS have a good attitude with EVERYONE even if you dont like them and you always smile even when you make mistakes. Never ever say my bad or I'm sorry, coaches want to hear you say that you got the next one. And if they don't move you up, then they either saw something in you they didnt like, or they're pretty crazy coaches....

I am pretty positive they have noticed you... Especially if your passing there Varsity players! But to be the best, you have to be confident with your basics. The best players have the fundamentals down to the T.You may even make varsity from what it looks like above... The coaches want to groom you for your senior year. When you can help with state and teaching young ones. Dont be Bummed if you don't make Varsity, It just means more practice and playing time for you. And try to possibly set yourself up to get a really good block from one of the girls who are shoe-in for Varsity all it takes is ONE! Than its stuck in the coaches brain that they have gotta keep track of you. Once my male coach went up for a hit screwing around and i blocked him! he was totally shocked and was stoked FOREVER! I can't get away talking to him without it being mentioned! Oh and it's always a plus to be the best on jv anyways. Then other coaches can ask your Varsity coach what the hell he was thinking keeping you on jv! hahaha Sorry so long! Congratulations in advanced. & Dont forget your the biggest and best Bad-*** out there!

It seems like you are doing what you need to on the court. Maybe, your problem is you aren't coming across as dedicated or professional. It seems to me, especially by your question, that you may not be showing attention to details or you may be coming across with a younger attitude. I say this, because you have spelling errors in your question, you didn't take the time to punctuate or capitalize correctly, and it is filled with text abbreviations. This may sound like a dig on you, but just take a look back at your tryouts and your playing. Are you at such a rush to get your skills out there that you aren't concentrating on doing it by the books? Are you getting the results you want, but not technically doing it the correct way to get there? Are you paying attention to the coach and senior players when you should be taking their advice and working on what they suggest. When there is down time, what are you doing? Coaches will look at the overall person as well as your skills. Are you presenting what the coaches want? I know this is a long answer and it sounds like it is pointing fingers at you, but I all am trying to say is just take a hard look at what you are presenting to the coach. Don't present your self as the best out there, remember everyone can learn a little more, confidence is good, but over confidence (being cocky) can be bad. Good luck.
