Hey, Here are some basic tips I thought might help you - when bumping/passing, make sure your forearms are flat and this gives the ball an even surface - when receiving the ball, make sure your knees are slightly bent and they are shoulder width apart - always come up from the bent position when you pass the ball - NEVER swing your arms when you pass because this sends the ball flying off the court. Keep it in a stable position - NEVER "reach" for the ball because this sends the ball flying forward. Always move your feet to the ball - for volleying the ball, make a triangle using the index fingers and the thumbs of your hands, and keep them about 2cms apart - For more info http://region5volleyball.com/

The most important thing is to not let the coaches get to you. No matter how much they watch you, or whisper to each other they have a bunch of players to worry about, so don't psych yourself out. Here's some volleyball related tips... 1) DIVE. Don't be afraid to get your knee pads dirty. Even if you don't reach the ball, they'll notice your effort believe me. However, don't go crazy and dive on every single ball, because then you'll just look dramatic. 2) Practice all components of the game. Even if your looking to be a back row player, work on hitting and setting because coaches love players that can play more than one position. Same goes with all other spots. 3) Really try to get height on your vertical jump when hitting, not distance. This will allow you more time and a cleaner hit. Also, don't be afraid to put some power into it. Even if you hit it out of bounds, they'll notice your strength and see that you have the skills needed to be a premium hitter. 4) DO NOT get down on yourself. You won't know what will happen until it's over so there's no sense being worried the entire time. Remember, there will be returning players, so you may not know exactly what the coaches are looking to add to the team and what they already have. I've seen coaches choose the player who isn't necessarily the best, but they have a good attitude. Coaches LOVE players who are coachable, meaning they are willing and ready to learn the game and make themselves better. So try and give others a boost while your playing, compliment hits or let them know that it's ok if they did something wrong. Believe me when I say coaches notice this stuff, sometimes more than playing ability. Good luck!!!!
