Whats its called when you don't get the ball over the next the first time in volleyball?

    You're obviosly thinking of tennis, where a person gets two chances to serve the ball over the net before a point is awarded to his or her opponent. In volleyball, you get one chance only, if you serve into the net, it's a side out, and the other team gets to serve. If you're using what is called rally scoring, a side out also awards a point to the opposing team.

A side out. I think you are talking about tennis, it doesn't work that way in volleyball.

"Service Over" (one of those that could be called "fault"... so you were partially right). The ref would point one hand to your side of the net indicating where the fault happened, and the other hand to your opponent indicating which team will serve next.

it's a bad serve. You will need to serve it inside the court during the next rotation.

its called a side out. and remember that nobody in your team can help it go over. it has to go over with the serve, and then it will get played by the other team and hopefully back in ur side/ so u can spike or do something with the ball

When you do not get the serve over, it is a service fault. You are correct. The result of that fault is a side out, which is a point for the other team. And you mentioned first time. There is no second chance like in tennis.
