What's the best way to get a scholarship for college in volleyball?

  • I'm a sophomore in high school and I just started playing volleyball this year. The varsity coach wanted me to play for the school, so I joined a club team before the season started just to get a head start. After making the varsity team as the setter, I fell in love with the sport and really want to get a scholarship to a college. (I also am a weak side hitter/a power when I'm in that kind of situation) So I was wondering if there were any drills to improve my skills, whether I'm at home or on another club team, or if there are any ways that I can get a scholarship or get noticed without being seen through a school team.

    You have to be on club. Coaches don't look at high schools at all. i you look on college teams they are all listed as to what their club rank was.

First of all, to get recruited you pretty much have to play club. College coaches don't have time to go to high school games, since their season is then, too. The coaches go to club tournaments, especially national qualifiers. Also, make a profile on berecruited.com and you can check out what colleges are looking for in your graduating class and the coaches can see your profile too. Be sure to start emailing coaches and fill out questionaires on the school volleyball website of schools you are interested in. Also, collegevolleyballcoach.com is a great source for recruiting tips!
