How To Play International Basketball Manager?

I love volleyball but I feel like my parents are forcing me to play basketball?

  • A little information about myself, I'm 6'1", a middle blocker in volleyball, a center in basketball, and a girl (yes very tall lol) and I've been playing basketball since as long as I can remember. I don't know what it is but I always feel weird playing basketball and extremely nervous EVERY time I play. I dread playing basketball and it isn't fun anymore. My dad played basketball in college and always expects I'll play basketball in college. I really really really enjoy volleyball and I never feel nervous playing it and I'm really good at it. The problem is that I played AAU basketball this summer and we went to national tournaments and I've gotten lots of things from colleges to play basketball. I'm not complaining about colleges being interested in me, but I don't enjoy it anymore and I'm not even that good just really tall! I feel like my parents are forcing me to play basketball because there might be scholarships in the future. I haven't told them how I feel about basketball. I want to play club volleyball but I'm afraid to ask and try to get out of AAU basketball. My mom played volleyball and was offered a scholarship, but she turned it down so she could go to a school of her choice. But even she is pushing me towards basketball! Please help!

Wow that's gotta suck but seriously I would do what you love there is no sense in doing something that you don't like to do, that will just make you unhappy. personally i would pick volleyball too it's a lot of fun! So just sit down with your parents and tell them that basketball just isn't something you enjoy anymore and they should understand your parents just want what's best for you so just tell them that basketball isn't it. Plus if its scholarships that they are thinking about there are plenty of other ways to get money for college.

sadly volleyball isn't a massive sport in western countries, so even though I love volleyball, basketball will take you places. You have been offered scholarships I suggest taking them.

you will never succeed if you dont love what you do.

In the end you need to do what you LOVE to do. Obviously this isn't always true - especially when it comes to making illegal/wrong decisions that come with regrettable consequences. However, choosing a sport to play isn't one and it's a case where what you LOVE to do should come before what your parents want you to do. Often times parents want you to accomplish what they wanted to accomplish, thereby living vicariously through your experiences. But you're a different person than your parents are and if they're understanding and mature enough to know that, you should tell them that and there shouldn't be consequences. If they can't deal with it, it's time for them to realize this fact and let you grow up and do YOU. As far as playing vball goes, it's one of the most exciting (more exciting than bball if you ask me, I love both sports and play them all the time though) and more popular in Europe/Asia. It's a growing sport in the States. In fact girls' volleyball in HS's is growing faster than basketball. It's a sport with a high growth potential esp in the States and you should pursue it if you Love it and are good at it. Check the source for more info on the game you love. And gluck sorting out your differences, it's a learning experience!
