How to make your own volleyball camp?

How can I make the Freshman Volleyball team?

  • I'm 14 and next year I'll be going into 9th grade and I need to choose a sport.I chose volleyball because I'm fairly good serving(underhand),bumping and setting. The problem is,I've never played on a real volleyball team, except for at my summer camp when we went to different camps and played friendly tournaments. I really enjoy volleyball,so what are some tips on how to make the team and get better over the summer?I'm only 5'4,so will that be a problem? And what are some positions I could play?Any exercises to do to help? Any help is welcome!I'm really worried about tryouts in the fall!

Just about everyone's answers are right. Also, if your passes and sets are really good, and if you're quick enough, you would most likely be put in the position of libero. Libero's are in the back row and they are the go-to person for passes. You may also be able to be a setter, but you'd really need to specialize in that. Some techniques for setting are making sure your feet are planted (your feet should get into position first), bend your knees, face your target, and push out. You want the ball to go high and to the hitter (unless they want you to set certain hits, but thats later on). Also make sure its a fluid motion in your fingers, or else they may call a double hit. These are only some of the things in volleyball, but I'm sure you'll be able to get the hang of everything and your position. You'll do fine, as long as you work hard. P.S. ALWAYS call your ball.

it doesn't matter how tall you are! as long as you can jump high enough you will be fine, but if you aren't really good at jumping high then you could be a back row player. But over the summer you should deffinately do some more summer camps and if you're friends are also interested you guys should all practice separately together, which makes it more fun! As long as you practice practice practice everything will be fine! good luck!!

For making school teams you probably have to overhand serve, and be able to spike the ball as well as controlling you bumps and sets. Taller is better for front row players. You would be better as a middle back. While you are brushing your teeth you can be going up and down on you toes. This will make you jump a little higher. Good luck!

I would do some volleyball camps over the summer. During the summer I like to pass to myself to help with ball control... I would also try to overhand serve. Have a friend practice with you its lots of fun and can help alot if you work on it for like 20 minutes a day!

As long as you're a talented player, there is a chance you will make it. Previous experience on a team should not really be a factor. Practice hard and as long as you're one of the best at tryouts, you'll make the team. Good Luck!

if you had a such kind of ability to play in volleyball so you can play and you can your own tem

I never played on a real volleyball team either and I made the team! (Im also really short!) A good position for people who arent that tall is a DS (passer), or a setter, but you might be able to make it as a hitter too. If your school runs any volleyball camps/clinics, I reccomend going to those, then the coachs get to know you and reconize you at tryout, and it shows dedication. Another thing thats really important for making the team is showing LOTS of enthusiasm and effort. My coach told my team that if she was debating between two girls of the same skill level, she will ALWAYS takes the one who gives to most effort and is the loudest. So just be loud, aggressive and cheerful, and do some camps and you will have a good shot. Good luck!

Do lots of vball camps this summer so that you have more experience. Also, try to get your overhand serve down. I don't know how big your school is but at mine you can't play if can't overhand serve, but i go to a really big school so yours may be different but you still should work on it. About your height, at the freshman level getting good hard hits aren't really the priority they just want you to get it over and in so dont worry about that. it just helps to be taller. just keep in mind that if you dont' grow more (unless you can jump) you'll probably be mostly in backrow or setter. but there's nothing wrong with that. at tryouts coaches hate it when you complain, aren't consistent, dont listen, talk while they're talking, when you dont push yourself, and when you don't call the ball. so do your best at everything else but just make sure you do the things i just listed and you'll be fine. good luck :) also, you could join club vball for more fun & experience

If you have heart and dedication for the sprot, and you st your mind to it Im sure you can accoplish making the team. I've been playing volleyball since my 6th grade year, and Im only 5'2". I also only could serve under handed. After awhile your going to have to serve over handed to make a high school level team. Try to pratice at home, and attend as many volleyball camp this summer. The best thing to do is go up to the high school you'll be attending and ask the head coach if you can attend any kind of open gym practices,, that way the high school coach can start keeping an eye on you and your improving skills.

I've made it to the volleyball team for grades 9, 10, and 11. Similar to what the above people have said, as long as you have the dedication and willing to work hard on the team, you'll make it. But of course, the coach has to acknowledge this during try outs. To start, you should definitely start practicing overhand serves. Rarely will you see an understand server in high school. Second, work on your calf and thigh muscles. This will get you jumping higher and you can find workouts by just searching on google. Other than that, just have a positive attitude. And also, after each try out, go and talk to the coach and ask him what he thinks you should improve on. This really shows that you want to make it to the team and willing to work hard. I'm not sure where you are from, but from where I live, we have a volleyball program tha is operated by "Mavericks Volleyball". (Search them on google too). This program is very good and this league also runs competitive volleyball and they also go to at least semi finals each year. HOpe this helps
