i used to dive competitively, and it took me a year to learn how to do a front somi (flip) because i always landed on my back whenever i tried so then i became hesitant to do them. once i got the feel for them, they became the easiest thing in the world to do, and i found that back somis were even easier to do (i leaned back somi almost a year before front somi) for front somi: when you jump, you want to make sure that you jump straight up and not out (this was part of my problem). make sure that you use your arms and as you jump reach straight up with them as if you were to touch the sky. as soon as you reach up, you need to throw your arms forward as fast as you can to start the rotation. as youre doing this, bring your knees up to your chest and grab on to your shins. stay in as tight a ball as possible while you rotate. when in doubt, dont worry about kicking out of your tuck and just land the dive as if you are doing a canon ball. once you are comfortable, you will be able to tell when it is time to kick out, and my coach just told us that when we kick out to think of it as standing up out of a chair. out of all this, i would say the most important part is how fast you throw your arms forward because it controls how fast you will spin. for a back somi: to start out jump straight up as high as you can and reach up like you are trying to touch the sky. once you are all the way up then push your hands back and swing your knees up as if you are trying to put them over you shoulders, this will get you rotating backwards. make sure to hold on tights to your shins closer to your feet instead of your knees. once you are finished rotating just stand up the way you would get out of a chair to help land it. whatever you do, do not throw your head back, or else you wont get enough height. oh and when you go to bring your knees up, make sure that you do in fact bring them up to your face and not go down o your knees (i hope that makes sense) or else you will get stuck because by swinging your knees up you start the somersault hope that helps

front flip needs stomach muscle, agility and flexibility and for ur fear, there's nothing to be afraid of, you'll be falling on water, just put that in ur mind roll over to get the controle of ur body, and just ur leggs, stomach, and back muscles

i have been able to do a flip off a diving board since i was 5... i learned to walk up tot he end and put my chin down and free fall until i hit the water.... obviously that might be a little harder for older people so my advice is to get a running start and jump as high as you, then tuck your chin down and hope for the best!

hotter den u!
