Wetsuit for tall and skinny?

What should I wear under a wetsuit?

  • So recently, I was accepted as a volunteer with my state's marine mammal stranding network, and our training session/orientation is this Saturday. The first two hours are in-class, the last four hours are in-the-water training. They sent an email saying we need to bring the $25 orientation and membership fee, as well as a pencil/pen, a wetsuit, and a change of clothes. I just placed an order on Amazon for my first wetsuit (it was really cheap and brand new, only $50!). So having never worn a wetsuit before, I was curious: should I wear anything under the wetsuit? With regular swim trunk, I'll normally wear Under Armour under them, but would you advise I simply wear nothing under the wetsuit? P.S. I live in south Texas, so as you can imagine, the Gulf of Mexico is pretty warm this time of year, lol. P.P.S. Here's the link to the wetsuit, if you need it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TIC4A6 Thanks!

  • Answer:

Don't wear anything, maybe a chaff guard (goes around the torso) if after the first time your skin is getting rubbed too much. You could wear a bathing suit or some other thing, but I don't. A wet suit is very tight to the body, you want as little as possible under it. Your junk can also get squished, more chance with room being taken from a bathing suit. EDIT: Saw the wet suit, it's essentially an elongated, thicker bathing suit, no need for anything.

Nothing. Pretty common to wear a wetsuit only. Some guys wear a speedo underneath. Anything will bunch up and be very uncomfortable.. Hopefully you git the 2mm. The 3mm will be pretty warm.
