How can I improve my breast stroke?

Pull outs for breast stroke?

  • how can i improve my pull out for my breast stroke? and what can i do to improve my stroke?

  • Answer:

I do not believe you can be coached over the internet. You need to get a coach to work with you, and get his/her opinion. Do not trust anyone who tells you how to improve your stroke specifically that you don't know. Without getting specific, practicing technique requires repetition. You need to eliminate all "wrong" factors, and focus on the "correct" ones.

Right when you push off the wall or pull out of a start you can do a butterfly kick then follow up with your pull-out stroke This way, you can get an extra yard or so off of you turn or start. If you want to improve your stroke you need to minimize head movemment to get less resistance from the water. If you move you head when getting air keep it close to the water so you can have minimal resistance when going back under for your next stroke.

ok. right after the start, or after pushing off a wall. stream line for a little for about 3 or 2 seconds, then do a pull out then as your arms are coming down do the dolphin kick. then come out. and as for your swiming you might want to try to lift yourself up, and lean forward as much as you can. remember your shoulders gotta be touching your ears. and thats how you can get a long and strong stroke.

i think you mean pull-down. The pull-down should be very similar to the pulling part of butterfly. Your hands should go down towards your legs while making a "S" like symbol with your left and an opposite "S" symbol with your right. With the new USS swimming rules, you are allowed a one-way kick during your pull-down, so you can kick one way (up or down) while pulling down during breast stroke. The one way kick is supposed to be like a dolphin kick, except u can only kick up (or down). Breast stroke can be easy for many, yet hard for even more. Even Olympic swimmers have trouble mastering the perfect technique. So in order to become faster, try and talk to our coach and ask him to look at your stroke every once in a while. If not, find a private instructor who can make your stroke look better, therefore faster. A reason many people are bad at brst is since they are very slow off of the walls and take forever on their pulldowns. Ideally, pull-downs in a 100 should not go very far; instead, you want a fast tempo while maintaining a good distance per stroke. When taking too long underwater, people will already be accelerating while you are slowing down underwater.

you can improve your pull by pulling straight down and then going into a TIGHT streamline for a second, and then pulling straight down... you can improve your stroke the best through your kick, if you get your kick really good it should help(but fixing your pull will help more, see below). your kick helps the most.... try using a pull buoy and only pulling, its hard isnt it?and you go slow dont you? now get a kick board and only do the kick, you go alot farther and its easier isnt it? so if you can get your kick really good it should help. but the pull is the important too. work on your timing and you should do well. if you can get your pull faster than the kick than you will be an amazing breastroker. good luck! and i hope this helps.
