What can i do to prepare for swim season?

i want to a) go on a diet. you know, not hardcore diet, but only drink water and tea and good stuff, and eat breakfast everyday. no candy, etc. and im going to start running a mile every 2-3 days. so grdually i will be ready for soccer season, but to focus on swim season... how am i supposed to prepare for that? anything special? should i do a pre-season thing? and in addition, any good tips?

so far i think you are doing a good job mostly what i like to do before swim season is start working on shoulder and leg muscles, because they are very important in swimming. anything from lunges to squats will help your legs, but for your shoulders you should just check out some basic youtube videos there great helps. Also if you have access to any pool find out the fitness swim time and go and keep practicing. useful tip: make sure you work on your flip turns they can make or break a swimmer.

Ok you should scratch out running if your actually going to focus on swimming. If you want to improve your stamina for swimming then you should actually swim. You need to improve your stamina in the pool and not on land. So my suggestion is go to a public pool or something and swim 500's or longer with intensity. I am not saying to go very fast but a pace that fits you.

sounds good. going on a run will help your legs get stronger also. also go running on a treadmill if you have a gym near your house or even go on an elyptical (spelling?)

you dont want to do a hardcore diet or else your body wont have enough calaries to function in the water. but you will want to swim to prepare for swimming season, not run. you will want to remember how to do all the strokes well and perfect your streamline and flipturns

Eat lots of fresh fruits,veggies,pastas,and whole grain cereals. Meat makes me sluggish and slows you down. So eat very little meat.
