What competition swimsuit should I get?

What swimsuit holds up the best?

  • I am looking to buy my 12 year old daughter a competition swimsuit for her to use for swim team. I want to get her one with the racer back. I am looking at swimoutlet.com at a "waterpro" brand, but there are a few reviews on it that say it only holds up for about 15 uses, then hangs on you and falls apart. What suit holds up the best?

    ive never heard of waterpro... but speedo and tyr are the best suit brands out there. speedo has plenty of XD skin suits which are meant to last long in chlorine, and also the endurance style, which is polyester and holds up very well to chlorine. after she swims, make sure you rinse the suit out with cool water. soap isnt necessary, but they do sell soaps to clean out suits.

I have always been happy with TYR, Speedo and Nike. In that order. I have a Speedo that I have had for 6 years and it's still great (though the style isn't as modern as it should be)! Make sure the suit is very snug. If you lift the straps up while it is on her, it should not be able to stretch past the ears. Happy Swimming!!

TYR and Speedo hold up really well. I have never tryed waterpro.

If she is going to be using it for practice and meets, I would look into a polyester chlorine resistant suit. We have polyester suits for our staff suit at the Y and I have taught water aerobics, swimming lessons, and coached (we get in the first part of the season) in it and it is still in great condition and still as black as it was when I first took it out of the box. I have been wearing it for 3 years!! I would do a search for chlorine resistant suits.
