How does water get trapped in the ear canal while swimming?
-
I know that if the water pools inside the ear canal for too long, it can result in Swimmers Ear, but how does the water get trapped in the ear canal in the first place? I mean, it doesn't even happen at the beginning of a swimming session, it typically happens to me after swimming for a while, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all.

Answer:
The ear canal is so small and due to water's surface tension the water has a hard time flowing out. What you need to use is alcohol which breaks the surface tension of water and lets it flow out your ear.
