How long will it take me to learn how to swim nd be good to compete in a swim team?

Hii, okay so I'm a 14 year old girl and I want to learn how to swim (please don't laugh haha) because next year (9th grade) I want to join the swim team but the problem is they're obviously all pretty good at swimming and they'll be in high school so you know. Anyways , I was wondering if I spend all 3 months of summer learning how to swim and practicing will I be good enough to compete in the highschool swim team? I've heard that it takes a week to learn to swim and then if I keep practicing will I be good? Please answer (: thank youu.

High school swim teams have a lot of people with different abilities. People join who don't know how to swim at all. If you practiced over summer you could probably get pretty decent. Joining a summer league might help too. I joined my high school team and I'd just learned how to swim a month beforehand.
