Im worried about swim season starting?
-
so I was in my high school swim team last year in my freshman year. Season began on the last week of november but I had been going to practice before the seaon began, I had been swimming for a year before that but nothing difficult, I wasnt in a team but I swim with the learning to swim kids but the trainer would make me swim a bit more as I got better but nevertheless I was swimming before the season began. when the season began I worked out like never before with practices twice a day (5 mile run in the mroning and 2 hour practices in the afternoon)...however season eneded this past february but I havent swam since february except like 3 or 4 times, but I have beeb running lots, managing to do no less than 9 miles per week since june (i was in corss country) im still running to conditions for swimming because its hard to find a pool to swim in, do you think that I should be worried about swimming since I've swam since feb. although ive ran lots? will it be hard for me?

Answer:
no, the main thing was keeping up your fitness and you've done that so you should be fine. I'm sure your swimming coach/trainer will be understanding anyway. You'll soon get up to speed once you hit the water!

Well, I don't think you should expect your coach to make you jump right into season. I think the workouts will get increasingly harder, but at the same time you will be getting increasingly better, so don't worry too much.

It will be hard for you. However, it will probably be hard for everyone else too. Something needs to be done so that you and your swim mates can swim year round.

I went straight from cross country to swimming this year, and it was pretty hard becuase you're using new muscles and the same muscles in different ways. Plus the breathing is really different, so you might have to get used to that again. You should be okay, though, because you're in good shape. It will be easier than if you hadn't done anything at all. Good luck!
