Best Places To Go Diving?

• Me, my dad, and my brother all want to go diving, we haven't been certified yet (except dad) and we live in Germany, so there's not places to dive. I want to go to Sipadan in Malaysia and Fiji, but I still want to see what others think. The Blue Hole would be cool, but there are quite a few sharks, and they freak me out. But ya, That's it. If you have to know, me and my bro are 16(me) and 17(him). Never been diving before, but very eager to. Thank you so much!

  There are indeed places to dive in Germany--so long as you don't mind diving in lakes, old quarries, or the Baltic (Ostsee). You can even get certified here, you know! For warm tropical diving, the closest/ cheapest/ easiest place for you to (get certified and) go diving is probably the Red Sea. Some of the sites there are world class, e.g. Ras Mohamed, the Tiran Reefs, and most of the remainder are still pretty special. Fiji is ... OK, what little I saw of it--however, with 100s of islands to choose from, I've hardly scratched the surface. But I have to say, I enjoyed the dives I did in the Similans (Thailand) more. Sipadan is one of the top-rated dive destinations in the world, and on my bucket list. The Maldives also have great diving by all accounts. Bear in mind though, that when dive magazines (and instructors) rate diving destinations as 'world-class' they usually mean 'for suitably experienced divers', i.e. these are sites which may require deep dives, or include 'bottomless' reef walls, overhead environments, and/or strong currents, e.g. Truk Lagoon and Bikini Atoll are amazing for wrecks, but absolutely unsuitable for newbies.
