How to become a life guard?

Okay so I know how to swim but not that well and I was wondering what do I need to know to become a life guard. I learn really quickly but what strokes will I need to learn? What kind of stuff do I need? There is a job opening for a life guard and I really want to do it in the summer.

To become a working lifeguard anywhere, you need to be certified by the American Red Cross. To be certified by them you need to be: A. At least 15 B. Able to swim 300 yards continuously C. Able to swim 20 yards off the pool wall, dive and retrieve a 10lb weight, and return to the wall Check with your local Red Cross chapter to see if there are any classes available in your area
