Is it easy to learn how to swim?

I live in England so cannot speak about teaching methods in USA .or any other country. It is dependent on your confidence, a good teacher.and what standard of swimming you require to reach. Everyone is different so some people may only take a few lessons before confidently swimming a length (25 metres) of a pool. Other people have taken a lifetime and still not had the confidence to learn. I learnt when I was around 20 and from being a non swimmer it took me weekly lessons for a few months when I was confidently swimming lengths of the pool including across the deep end. During my school days they tried teaching me front crawl which I just could not learn so when I got to 20 I asked my instructor to avoid front crawl so he taught me breast stroke which gave me the confidence. Later in years I learnt front crawl. Many swimming lessons begin on learning front crawl which if you cannot master that then suggest learn another stroke first such as breast stroke or back stroke and then return to learning front crawl. You did not say what standard you want to reach but at my local swimming pool in England children are classified as swimmers if they can tread water for one minute and swim 50 metres in under 2 minutes.

duuudeee when i frist learned how to swim my cousin pushed me in the deep end. And it actually wasnt that bad i started doggy paddling (i think thats what its called) in the water and I leared how to swim then and there lol. I never had any swimming lessons. Yeah you could take the lessons but im cheap so i wouldnt . If your family ot friends have a pool go in there and have them teach you how to !
