How many tanks can you have for scuba diving?

I need to know if my scuba diving tanks inspections are up to date , how can i tell ?

  • Answer:

If it's been so long that you can't remember the last time it was done, it's time. There are two inspections done. A visual, looking for issues like corrosion inside the tank, fractures, foreign debris and moisture as well as a hydro to test for how much the tank expands under pressure. A visual needs to be done at least annually or whenever you suspect you may have damaged the tank from a fall or other abuse such as draining the tank on a dive and a hydro done once every 5 years. There will be stickers placed on the side of the tank indicating when both tests were done last. It's the law. If the stickers have become unreadable, a dive shop will do both tests before filling it. Some shops are now employing what's called a visual eddy if they own the equipment. It passes a current through the tank to detect flaws and is a little more accurate at finding hairline fractures than the human eyeball.
