Can you practice surfing in a swimming pool?

How can I overcome my fear of Pool Cleaners?

  • Well when I was about 8 or 9, My uncle took me and my cousin swimming at a pool in his neighborhood. I was really excited because it was my first time going swimming and I was going to learn how to swim. I started in 3ft of water, It was really fun I practiced swimming and doing excersize's and fun stuff like that... Then my uncle told me to go and practice in 4ft of water... That's when My life came to an end... I was in 4ft of water and I turned around and saw this weird blue thing that had wheels and it was moving around, It really scared me I had no idea what it was! Right when I saw it I screamed and jumped out the pool super fast and started crying. My uncle tried to tell me it was just a pool cleaner and it cleans the pool and couldn't do any harm.. But I didn't believe him. I told him to take me home, and he did. I'm 13 years old now and I haven't went swimming since... I really wanna learn how to swim, Everytime I see a picture of a pool cleaner or If I see a swimming Pool I'll scream and run away and cry.I really want to learn how to swim but even if I dip my feet in water I'll get scared.... Is there a name for my fear?

    ignore the guy above. is this really true? i mean i get phobias, i have one of frogs so i geuss i cant talk. maybe if you get a picture of one and analys it. whats dangerous about it? whats scary? phobias are a really difficult thing

Well, I'm not sure if there is a name, but a helpful way is to do some research about pool cleaners and see that they are not really as horrible as they seem. I mean, everyone has a fear, but that is not important. The important part is overcoming it. As scary as it might seem, visit the pool once more, and who knows? You might overcome your fear. :)

In all the pools I've been in, I've never seen or even heard of a pool cleaner like that. Almost all pools are managed by hand, meaning no automatic pool cleaners. It's just a machine! You shouldn't let something built by humans get in the way of you having fun..
