What are some swimming tips?

What are some good tips for independent swimming dryland?

  • Swimming season is over and I had a good season, but I wish I would've been better. I've swam for a high school team for two years and went to State this year but I no way in heck swam I just watched. I really want my high school's team to make it to state next year but I know I need to work my a** off. I'd love to do some independent dry land this summer. I'm joining a club, our state girl said she'd do yoga and palate with me as well. But give me some tips. What to eat, what are some good gear to keep around, some secret tips, etc. Thank you so much.

  • Answer:

At night eat lots of protein, in the morning eat a good breakfast, during the meet eat carbs, hydrate, keep yourself warm(my coach suggested because he said if we are warm and jump into cold water we will swim hard), sit and try to conserve energy. Practice during the summer, for sure. If you are really dedicated, then have weekend practice and swim when your season is over and you still have school. My school use aquablade swimsuits, and we make sure that they are tight. Practice, practice, practice. hmmm... On dryland, we usually work on our abs. We don't do much running, but we do occasionally to help build a bit more stamina. This year on dry land we've been doing lots of wall sits(It's torture, and especially when we have to pass the medicine ball) I hope it helps, and I really hope both our team makes it to the states :)
