I had the same exact problem, it helps to ice your shoulders fifteen minutes before practice and 15 minutes after practice.

I always used a hot tub to get rid of soreness. That should do the trick.

you should either sit in the tub or take a moltrin after you eat and lay down

chris

try a message it helps loosen the mussels or sit in a hot tube.

This may seem weird but after my practices if I go home and lay down and put my arms and legs directly in the air it really helps. It may also be that you are doing the stroke wrong a girl on my team had to quit because she messed up her shoulder and had to get surgery because of butterfly! Well try to stick your arms in the air or try icy hot before swimming. When I practice I try to do different strokes and sometimes that works!

you need to make sure you warm down after hard workouts.. that way you convert that lactic acid back to glucose they say it takes around 10 minutes of slow swimming to bring your HR back to normal

Yeah make sure you swim down after strenuous work, don't just get out and sit in the shower. You need to keep blood and oxygen flowing to your muscles and the only way to do this is to keep them moving. Note that if this shoulder soreness is in fact joint pain, you should take it easy for a bit and see someone who specializes in joint pain

of course i shouldnt even mention warn down and stretching afterward~ i had the exact same problem and i was actually tearing one of my muscles little by little, another way it could be hurting is if you do any other sports that involve running or other physical strain you might be agravating a muscle by stretching back and forth. my friend had to quit spring swimming to do track. another thing would be to drink toooooooons of water your most likely dehydrated
