How to become a better swimmer?

How can i become a much better swimmer?

  • Im a beginner and im trying to become a better swimmer for winter sports. I know its practice but how many laps should i swim each time im at the pool ? questions like those. How can i get to a point where i can be a great swimmer ? It would help if you could tell me how to actually do it not just "practice." Thanks a lot !

  • Answer:

First, get proper coaching so you will get the techniques right - breast-stroke, front crawl, etc. Get into a swimming team and follow a training programme. Second, practice as often as possible -4 to 6times weekly, if you want to be a competitive swimmer fast. Follow a proper diet and get adequate rest every night. Thirdly, remember your road to faster improvement and breaking records, is your passion, focus, diligence and discipline. You have to be willing to make some sacrifices in your life. Best of luck! :-)

It takes a lot of time and patients to become a Great swimmer but heare is what u can do: 1.Get in swim lessons. Trust me-they help a lot. You will know how to do all of the strokes. Do that until you are a level 4 or 5. 2. Start working out alone do this in order: Week 1-3: Warm up: 100 free (elbows sharp, head down, breath on 3rds) 50 back (Head back, back arched, arms stiff and straight) 50 breast ( pull/breath, kick, glide) 25 butterfly( butt up, sholders wide, face in water before arms) 50 free (pull with arms no kicking) 50 back pull Kick: With kick board: 100 flutter 50 butter With dumbell: 50 flutter on stomach 50 flutter on back reapeat for butter. Endurance: Swim for 15 min free style Practice 2 or 3 days every week (it helps if u get on a team or in lessons too) Every 3 weeks make each workout a little longer and progress ex. instead of 100 free do 150 and so on every 3 wks until u feel that u are strong. Then stick with one challenging workout

Something that might help a lot is talking to a local swim coach. Someone who has been around the sport a while and has taught the sport to new and experienced swimmers. Swimming can be easier if you break it up. Do a lap then rest 10-15 seconds. Keep doing that for a while or until you feel that your stroke and technique has improved.

Try going with a friend or family member and have some races. Swim around for fun. and maybe every ten or fifteen minutes do 7-10 laps. I mostly swim for fun and im a really good swimmer now.
