What position is best to play in rugby league as a beginner?

okay well im thinking about joining the girls rugby league team at school.I haven't played like proper rugby league before only like backyard footy. Most of the girls have been playing for previous years so they all are pretty good id say.my PE teacher wanted me to join last years but I got a bit scared and did not bother about it and this year I think I will. I am very small I only weigh 50 kg and about 160cm tall im a good runner that's why my PE teacher wanted me to do it cause im fast i can catch not like bomb kicks or anything tho and I can pass. haven't tackled anyone only those big bag things.do you think ill get smashed .what position is the easiest to play and what do you think my coach would put me as.is it an easy sport to learn i no most things cause i watch it a lot.and what is the main thing you do in the position and are you under a lot of pressure and do you think my coach would put me on the field if i was not that good?

Answer:
most beginners who don't know the game well start off on the wing and i think that's where you're teacher would probably put you because you're small and you can run. but in rugby league when your opposition is on the last tackle, they usually kick and the full back and one of the wingers 'drop back' to catch it. you say you aren't good at catching high kicks and that is a responsibility of being a winger. i think you should play centre because it is similar to wing but you don't usually have to catch bombs. as for your coach, he/she shouldn't expect you to be a world beater on your first few matches. it takes some getting used to. he/she may sub you a few times at first

i would say either a wing or scrum half. wing would be good because you're fast, but scrum half is for smaller and more agile players with good hands.

im about your size and i just started playing too. i think the best for beginers is centre because it hasn't got any special responsabilities your team has to count on you for. like the wings who drop back on the 5th tackle. and has nothing to do with the scrum. also, most of the centres arent the biggets players on the team so you should be alright. good luck :) it would also be best for a beginner to start on the left, as most people prefer to pass to the left and for the other team your standing on there right. so the ball will not come to you as much as the other side. this is good for you both in defence and attack because you will get more runs. but you wont have to make as many tackles on bigger players. :)
