How many centuries will it take for Spain to produce Rugby players that can win them Six Nations & RWC?

My answer would be straight. Truth hurts but my answer is NEVER

Answer:
It's great to see countries like Spain trying to improve their game. Look at Italy, it has taken them a few years to get their first win in the 6 Nations and they are doing well. Give Spain time and a chance to play in the 6 Nations and they too will improve.

My gosh -- what an arrogant question. That said, why pick on Spain rather than any of the other Tier 2 or 3 nations. Heck -- the United States has the athletic talent and the money to dominate the sport should they ever start taking rugby seriously. That may never happen, but the potential is certainly there. And the Russians -- along with the Japanese -- are starting to take rugby seriously, and that should give all the traditional powers reason to think. Spain has recently gotten a fully-professional domestic league going, and that is the real key to making progress. It make take 20 or 30 years for them to become competitive, but so what? Or put the question another way. Thirty years ago you might have (reasonably) said exactly the same thing about Argentina. And they would have proven you dead wrong.

Probably about the same era that NZ and USA play in the finals for FIFA WC. Seems a pretty pointless question, both generally (is anyone predicting that they will - I mean they aren't in Six Nations, and unless that becomes a multi-tier promotion/relegation series, they never will), and because you've already decided on the answer. I say, good on Spain for trying to develop their system. Mark L.

If they started taking it seriously today (as seriously as New Zealand or South Africa say), within 10 years they could be pushing for inclusion in the top 10. Think of all the 8 year olds out there with talent, right now they want to play football, but if Spain were to start putting money into rugby they could easily move many of these kids into rugby teams. I reckon a high level Spanish team could be great for rugby, a bit of natural flair for entertainment is never amiss in any sport.
