  • basically i have got devon rugby trials in 19 days and would like some advice on how to prepare and what to expect and also what to do at the trial to get noticed, i play flanker and really want to get in , can anyone help me with any answers ? many thanks

  • Answer:

Well if Devon trails are anything like Leinster trails then they look to see if you have the basic skills (passing, tackling and beating the defender), the specialist skills in your position (I'm a prop myself so I don't know what that involves) and they might play a couple of small games. So, practise simple things like passing off your bad hand, side stepping and running over players. They look for work rate, intensity and aggression in the games. They'll also look at your size. Get yourself weighed and measured. Exaggerate your weight a little bit if they ask.
