FLANKER-TIPS-CHEATS-AND PLAY share your tips and ways to hook and crook and read others!?

  • Ok so what this is is just a little thing where we can share ours tips and ways to get the ball by hook or crook, and tips in play, tackling, play in scrums and mauls and just around every where when the pesky ref has turned a blind eye :) one of my good tips in play that i do alot and ALWAYS works as long as you have control is: 1 As you run and its 1on1 you place the ball in your hand SIDEWAYS and you bang it down on your knee in other words its like a "Knee kick" and depending how hard u bang it is how far it will fly up with a bit of practice this works aa TREAT goes str8 over there head and boom in your harnds when u run past him. YES THIS IS ALOUD. 2,In the scrum if the ref is on the other side and its your put it u can harass the other flanker but by going low so your "hiding" From the ref and u bind your free arm on to there flanker to hold it him,no it will Not stop them from breaking when the ball is gone, but it will slow them down and put them off there play,so just put down ur tips and ways and lets all help each other !

Mark L don't be so precious, cheating is a relative term in rugby. Hate to tell you mate, but kneekicking is a knock on, and your flanker harrassment thing would get you penalised when I am reffing. now, if you wanted to be a real star, perfect Richie McCaw's tactic of touching one knee to the ground while tackling, and sliding back to your feet before attempting to turn the ball over. As a tackle (ie you've gone to ground) you don't have to come back through the gate, and can attack the ball from any angle. You must however take your hands off the man at some point (I recommend as you are sliding back up to your feet) or it's considered not releasing.

Best thing i can say for flanker is soon as the ball out of the scrum ether try to get scm half or aim for fly half and than the line in a ruck defend the sides so the man who picks it out jump on the and get the ball and run and in a mauls is dive rip the ball an present it to ur team.

Ridiculous. No wonder Americans are considered a joke in rugby (I'm American). How about putting you effort into training and practicing, doing the hard yards necessary to being a first rate rugby player? Be faster, quicker, stronger - Let Todd Clever be your example. Forget Richie McCaw or Schalk Burger, mate - don't worry, in fact don't pay attention to the stories of them as "cheaters". It's rubbish, and in any event doesn't apply to anything remotely like your (or my) level of rugby. Learn the game from the elements up, and focus on what actually works in the long run. Pay attention to the spirit of the game, not to some inflated opinion of a stunt that might - but only might (you also could be carded for cynical play) - "work" once a season. Mark L.

You're not allowed to use your knee to kick the ball. By definition 'A kick is made by hitting the ball with any part of the leg or foot, except the heel, from the toe to the knee but not including the knee…'. The penalty is that it's treated as a knock on/throw forward and you give a scrum to the opposing team. A Ref worth anything will site you for that. As for Carlos Spencer doing it, that was 10 years ago, they've changed the rules since then.

Todd Clever (chuckle) stop it (chuckle) your making my ribs hurt. Every openside flanker in the game cheats to some level the best i have ever seen (cheating) is George Smith with Richie McCaw and Phil Waugh not far behind. If you really want to improve your openside play rent a video of Michael Jones playing for the All Blacks 1987-1989 before his major knee injury. The best openside to tie on boots ever.

I used to hate my opposites binding on to me in scrums so I'd their his fingers back as hard as I could, breaking them if possible. They will NEVER bind onto you again! Also, play to the ref. Some will let you get away with murder and others wont. Feel them out but when doing this don't give away penalties in your own half or blow good attacking opportunities.
