In which year did Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club start at position 126 in the Thames Head of the River Race?

Help with my rugby career PLEASE...?

  • this is my second year playing rugby, and im decently good and start on the wing for the grade 9/10 team(im in grade 9)and in 2 seasons ive started at fullback wing and flyhalf. but all my grade 9 friends have a position that are coaches call natural, the other starting wing is going to move to starting flyhalf next season, and our starting flank is going to move to 8th man. and apparently i will move into the centers next year because i play backup there and my coaches think im gritty and "a hard runnin boy", so i was wondering if i have a "natural" position that suits my body type and abilities. heres my 'stats' 5"8 127 lbs average/ slightly above average speed decent tackler (and improving alot) good head real nice sidestep and good at avoiding tackles not realy good at breaking tackles once ive been wrapped or grabbed not afraid to run into contact at all good leadership good passing decent catching the high ball below average rucking (decent for my position though & only do bad when first to the ruck i push well if i bind on in support) i also kick good of both feet, my right my stronger though i am very determined and put in second third and fourth efforts if i get lined up right i can tackle hard so thats pretty much what i look like, and yea im good at alot of things but not really amazing at much, so if you could tell me my natural position or somethings i could improve on to get to what i need to be for my natural position(ie. wing-speed, fullback tackling ect.), i hope that all makes sense and thanks sorry for how long this was too and do you think i should play club rugby, even though i probably wouldnt start, and do you think i could play in the forwards at all, cuz i have friends who say i could play hooker because of my size and stuff im also an athletic person and i play rep baseball and soccer if that gives you an idea about my natural athleticism

Well, if you bulk up more you would make a pretty good fly half by the sound of it, since speed istn totaly your thing but agility (side steping, ect) is you could be good in tight areas where there is not alot of running room. At fly half you wouldnt be asked to ruck very much since you are alwasy the first back to make contact, fly halves also kick a fair amount as they are the first person off the scrum after the scrummy so any kicks usually come to them first. fly half is also usualy the leader of the backs since any play starts wiht them. breaking tackles shouldnt be a problem either as you are not expected to run the whole field, eihter jsut go into contact and chew up a few yards or make the pass to the inside center. i play 8 man in first year uni, im 6'4" and 235lbs ive been playing rugby since 8th grade

First I would pick a school that is heavily focusing on the sport, or go even to a region or nation that is the capital of that particular sports. Then advertise yourself. Your life will dramatically change once you are in THE ENVIRONMENT. Its worth it.

I actually stopped reading this incredibly detailed and delicately crafted question right about when I saw the word rugby in the headline. No offense or anything... but rugby is about a rung or six down from soccer. Ponder that and get back to me.

Right mate you need to start by joining a rugby LEAGUE club. All union players do is stamp on each other. You sound a perfect build for a fullback in league! the games faster, tougher, more skill etc. i promise you if you start playin youll love it. If scouts spot potential youll be signed up in no time bacause new rules state all Superleague clubs must have a certain number of home grown youngsters in their squad! Good Luck
