What do you think of the current All Blacks Squad?

Do you think there is space for SBW, Nonu and Smith in the 30 man All blacks world cup squad?

  • I want all 3 to be there but do you thnk Henry will just pick Smith and Nonu instead. I would like to have SBW there too as hes more on an impact player coming off the bench when things get tough.

    I expect all three to be selected. However, Williams has not played with much impact in the first two Tri-Nations games. Look for him to be given a chance to really assert himself in the remaining Tri-Nations games. If he does not, it's possible (though not likely) that the selectors will bypass him, or at least call some additional cover at centres (NZ has herds of them). I'd like to see Robbie Fruean in the pool. Mark L. @Andrew - Fair call, SBW hasn't had much Test time yet. That will change over the next weeks. I hope to see some real impact out of him when he gets the chance - a good go at the Boks would be impressive.

SBW will travel as cover, with Nonu and Smith as first choice starters. It's a long tournament so the All Black's will need depth. Also, expect them to try different variations in the pool games to give players a rest. It'd be a huge surprise if all 3 aren't in the 30 man squad, as all are world class, who can do something special to win a game. I just wish England had one centre like that, New Zealand have an embarrassment of depth at the moment.

All three of those players are in the All Blacks team for a reason: Nonu for his ability to break the line, Sunny Bill for his great offloads/handling and Smith for his general play. It would be unwise of Henry to leave any of them out for this upcoming World Cup, especially if he needs that extra edge to get above other teams.

With respect to Mark L - SBW hasn't really been given a chance to shine in the black jersey this year - but don't worry - he will be. I think the NZRU were trying to build his hunger a bit and get him riled up. To answer the question, yes, I think all 3 need to be there, if only because the guy marking Nonu all day has in the back of his head that once he tires he'll then have to deal with Sonny Bill as well - that's gotta stuff your morale!

Yes them 3 will be there! Richard Kahui will also be there to cover outside centre, wing.

Yes of course they will be, 2 centres are just not enough for a squad of 30
