  • Personally, i think former allblack George Nepia is. He is the only individual rugby player to be named New Zealands sports person of the Decade. An honour not even richie mccaw, dan carter, colin meads or jonah lomu have or will ever accomplish. I could go on and on about how good he was, but who do you think is the greatest fullback of all time?

Hmm at International level there have been a number of excellent fullbacks who all had their own unique strengths. In the last decade or so Andre Joubert. Christian Cullen Serge Blanco Gavin Hastings. I would have difficulty in picking between those. As at Dec 2010 Mils Muliaina (spelling) is the stand out fullback. In the 70's I would have to go for Johan Heunis.

this does depend on what time scale your looking at, are you going pre war or after or when rugby turned professional. recent memory christian cullen , serge blanco, andre joubert. my knowledge is not very good pre war so ill have to stick with those players. personally i dont think you can look to far away from the northern hemisphere. this player is so good you know who he is just by his initials, jpr. need i say more. the great jpr williams. the welsh meastro at either wing or full back. relativly small guy but huge hiitting, wonderful under the high ball and pace to burn. i bet he could still show some young 'whiper snappers' a thing or to now.

Christian Cullen. Just like any sport as time passes athlete's become better and better. So for all those who still rate older legends as being the best are sadly wrong. They would struggle to make today's International sides.

christian cullen. he could weave his way through a defence with ease (well he made it look easy). also scored quite a few 100 metre tries as well.
