When you have tests for ice skating?

Is roller skating just like ice skating?

  • i was just wonding because im signing up for varsity ice hockey soon and ive been ice skating before but fell alot of times and im not sure if i can ice skate i really wanna play hockey n ice hockey is my best bet but im not sure if im taking classes on ice skatinand i dont want to but yea if i can roller blade like a beast then can i ice skate like a beast lol? i need help

  • Answer:

rollerblading is similar to ice hockey. in ice hockey you need to use the edges of the blades. you also need to be able to stop sideways (like a skiing stop). learn to skate first. don't just rely on similarities between ice hockey and roller blading. learn to skate and play hockey before puting your self up to varsity level hockey.

stopping will take some getting used to, as well as working on your edges. but your experience with roller blades should help. do take classes though, to help you adjust to the ice.

I find it very different. I started roller skating when i was 4 and it came pretty naturally. Ice skating was a different story...i tried it for the first time a couple years ago and i thought it was gonna come naturally like roller skating did...far from it. I could not get the hang of it. Surprisingly i didnt fall down but i thought i was gonna be able to skate better than i did.
