How To Get Rid Of The Infamous "Top Contributor" badge?

How did I get the top contributor badge in the hockey section?

  • So, a few minutes ago, like usual, I came onto Yahoo! Answers to see if I gained any points. It said I have gained 13 points. So I went to see the question that my answer got the best answer on. But when I saw my answer, something came to my surprise...I saw that I got the top contributor badge! =O It was not there yesterday. Not that I am upset by it, it's actually something to be happy about it...but my question is HOW did I get it? I am still only in level 2 and I have not even answered 100 questions yet. (I have answered 95 as of now). Is it because of my best answer percentage? Can someone tell me how the top contributor process works and why I got it? It's just confusing me because the only people I have seen with them are in level 3 or over, and I am still in level 2. Thanks!

    Congratulations Jacob! They have a weird process of giving and taking away these badges. It seems to have to do with time spent, answers given, and best answers selected. Just mix up an equation with those 3 factors. I got mines in level 2 as well I think and had it taken away after. Since then, i could care less whether i have it or not. But the first time i got it, I have to admit it was pretty exciting. So take the accomplishment all in as you'll soon learn to love to hate it.

At least you didn't get yours using multiple accounts. Don't worry, half of the people who have them aren't 'top contributers'

ADD - I'M PRETTY SURE THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO W/ BEST ANSWER %. it only has to do w/ how often you're on here. don't be deceived: quantity does not mean quality. just because i add a lot of fluff to the forum, doesn't make me knowledgeable!

I have more violations than best answers. Besides, violations is what drives the ladies crazy.

I got one this morning too. It means Yahoo is going to be keeping an eye on you for awhile. I guess it's sort of like probation. I got one last year in the Polls & Surveys section but lost it. Then again all the TC's in the Polls & Surveys section lost theirs and Yahoo doesn't give P&S TC badges out anymore. The P&S section is effed. I still like to drop in there from time to time though. Sorry, I got off on a rant there.
