Which hockey team should I pick? New Jersey Devils or Philadelphia Flyers?

I'm from South Jersey and also a Eagles fan. You are right the Flyers are more exciting to watch than the Devils. The Flyers are always a good team and have good players. Hope this helped.

Take whoever you want but I root for the Devils since I'm a Jersey guy and it's paid off since this might be the first year they missed the playoffs since 1996 and they've won three Cups. It's also been a treat to watch Marty Brodeur all these years. But root for who you want to, not because other people tell you. You say the Devils games are boring, so does the rest of the league. They play defense and I like defense over massive scoring. The Flyers might entertain with their explosive scoring but they've always had that since I've started watching hockey back in 1993 and they have ZERO Cups to show for it while the Devils boring defense first attitude has won three. And I remember the 2000 playoffs when we came back down 3 games to 1 against those very Flyers on the way to our second Cup.

I would suggest Philadelphia. You really can't root for both because they're in the same division and are rivals. The Devils have a lot of past success but made bad offseason moves that killed their season. The Flyers are a team that ate favored second to the Canuks for the cup but the Canuks always choke so the Flyers are the team to beat. So my opinion... GO FLYERS!

Go with the team you feel is better. Both are great franchises that have had plenty success, so just go with who you like more.

Blackhawks (coming from a kid in the middle of North Dakota)

The Flyers are better right now for sure. The Devils... They're having a terrible season this year because they blew their wad on Kovalchuk and had to bail out a bunch of quality players to make room for him. But they'll recover from that in time, now that they're going to be able to build around Kovalchuk instead of having to just cram room for him. That said, traditionally they play a very boring style of hockey--the neutral zone trap--that is effective, but bloody boring to watch... So you get a lot of low-scoring 2-1 games that largely consist of stopping play for offside calls and icing. It's probably the most effective way to play, but it's so godawful dull that teams choose not to do it. So for now I'd say go with the Flyers if you're close enough to get to their games. They're a good team that's fun to watch and they've got some good names like Giroux and Richards. Plus, there's a certain fondness in my heart for the Flyers since they've got a fair number of fromer Sharks on the team--Matt Carle, Jody Shelley, and Boucher. Plus? Orange is snazzy.

Flyers for sure...if you're going for "entertainment" especially. Flyers are offensive minded team, that has great defense and good goaltending as well. Its probably better to watch a Philly (Philly = Philadelphia just in case...not a baseball team :p) game for you cause its more fast moving hockey game. They are one of the leagues best team this year, and are cup contenders for sure. As for the Devils, they have been amazing recently, but that been said its still a pretty bad team overall. It is known for defense and goaltending as its called "0% offense, 100% defense". The offense is brutal as its gets, while the defense is stacked but is playing poor this year (kinda surprised on that part). Goaltending has been mediocre this year too. I've heard "Parise" several times in the comments above, but its the only forward that can actually get decent amount of points aside from Kovalchuk and Elias (not sure about him though...kinda past his prime). But can't see Parise making a difference all of the sudden...so I suggest you pick Philadelphia Flyers. Of course you can always be an Ottawa Senators fan like me :p

Philadelphia Flyers

I honestly think you should be a Rangers fan. They are VERY young, have good talent, and have the most potential out of anyone in the NHL. The team and their fans represent everything NY and if you really dislike NY, then I'd go for the Devils. You live in New Jersey and you should stay loyal to your state in my opinion. Plus they need fans lol
