How do you know when you have to change your roller hockey wheels?

so this is my first year playing roller hockey. however im not completely new to hockey. im 16 but ive been into hockey for a couple years. i just need to know when i have to change the wheels and how soft or hard to get them. thanks.

Hard or soft depends on where you're playing. If you're outside a lot 82A is a good hardness to get. Indoors you will want softer, grippier wheels (78A, 74A). Wheels are safe to use as long as you haven't worn them down to the plastic. It's always a good idea to rotate them because you'll notice that some wheels will wear down faster than others (usually the front ones). Your right skate and left skate wheels will also wear down different way so when you rotate them switch skated with them too.
