What Games Are Available On NHL Vault?

How can Versus black out NHL hockey games?

  • Is anyone else mad Versus can black out games like they have? I'm confused... Versus PAID money to get exclusive rights for the NHL play off games... so how can they black out games in my area? I live in Ohio, and so far they have blacked out two games involving the Pittsburg Penguins... wtf?! Anyone know why or what the reason is for the blackouts?

  • Answer:

versus is not the one blacking out the game ... they are the ones having the game blacked out by the NHL ... it is in the contract that if the game is not a sell out by a specified time then the NHL can shut down the feed to the "national" network ... basically forcing people to BUY tickets ... but the NHL also has to honor local broadcast rights ... mostly FOX ... i think it is either 200 or 250 miles radious of the host city

it depends on what service you have. im a flyers fan and they block out the games locally so i cant watch them unless i have comcast but my friend in virginia gets the game, that may be your case idk.

Probably a local channel is carrying it. I live in L.A. and I got both games last night on Versus.
