Will this be a blue Christmas for you?

Christmas - Hockey style?

  • I just went to get my skates sharpened this morning and while I was browsing I discovered... OMG they have NHL Christmas tree skirts. That is like AWESOME. Plus they have NHL stockings and santa hats. For some reason they had Christmas stuff of the Red Wings, Sabres and every Canadian team EXCEPT for the Canucks... weird. I think I am going to buy a Sens stocking for my dog... he will tear it to pieces by Christmas morning. Muahahahaha. ;) So anyways.... I was just thinking, how does everyone else incorporate hockey into their Christmas? The only thing I can think of is this really old TML Christmas tree ornament that came with a Blue Jays ornament in a set of two. Plus we usually have a pond hockey game on Christmas Eve. But we can't this year... damn. :( That's it really. I'm thinking I should hockeycize my Christmas. It's in the winter. How hard can it be? I need ideas people. :|

  • Answer:

One of the things I look forward to at Christmas hockey-wise is the World Junior Tournament that kicks off on Boxing Day. I also manage to squeeze in going to see my nephews play in the Wayne Gretzky Tournament in Brantford. I don't do much decorating. I like your stocking idea. Too bad Alfie isn't going to be wearing that when you give it to the dog.

Three words: World Junior Championship. That's how I incorporate hockey into Christmas. About a week of wearing my Team Canada jersey every single day! Hey, it was a lot better than wearing it during the Worlds where temperatures got up to 20C...yikes, I had deodorant with me everywhere I went....

Made a stop by the Preds pro shop last night and they had a lot of neat christmas items.. Tree skirts, light strings, santa hats and 10 or so different ornaments..Personally got a $28 santa hat (OUCH-- but wife said "I want").. Only thing besides a win that would have made last night more festive would have been if the Wild would have been wearing there home sweaters.. Kinda makes them look like elves.. Boogard would have been that elf that Will Ferrel played in the movie.. Happy Holidays all.....

My sweet sister makes Flyers cookies for me every year. One of them is shaped like the Flyers logo - not much smaller than the actual size of the jersey crest. She carefully arranges the orange, white, and black "jimmies" to highlight the edges of it. All the rest are regular round ones with random sprinkling of the same jimmies that I described. Sweet girl she is.

I have no suggestions for what you can do to hockeysize your Christmas, because I don't live where hockey is "natural" (I admitted it). I am such a super minimalist (I hate clutter) that I only have silver ornaments, with white lights, and a reindeer that I put on the dining room table. Maybe it IS a good idea to get something hockey and Christmas related to celebrate. Now I know what to ask Santa for Christmas.

All i get for christmas is sharks stuff because thats the only thing people can think of to get me. lol. Or they think they'll be funny and get me something with the ducks on it....not a good idea.

Sharks Baby!!!

Thheee woorrrlllddd juniors baby :P but i would like to do something hockey related this year. my mom looks at a lot of different leafs things to buy me, because she knows im a big fan, Well everyone knows.. By the way cara, i saw NHL christmas tree lights at the store, they were in the shape of the leafs logo, i also saw stockings, christmas tree mat thingies, ornaments, a maple leafs thing you put on the top of your tree. oh yeah, i saw leafs christmas hat too! :P They have seriously everything! Try looking in Avon, during the Christmas months they have TONS of leafs stuff, im not even kidding, it was jam packed with leafs stuff.
