Need Help with Hockey & weight loss?

My Boyfriend is 6'1 and 265 ( Hes lost about 35 pounds over the past 4 months). He used to play Inline Roller Hockey as a kid but he was always the Goalie. Needless to say, he's not very balance-friendly. So here's the thing, I'm going to be doing " conditioning" with him and pretty much be his 'condtitioning coach'. Anybody have good ways to work on balance? I was thinking about having him do yoga once a week, and completely change his diet to help him lose some extra pounds and get more protein in his body. Since his balance isnt so great he has a hard time skating, and goes at a slow pace. Like I said...he used to be goalie so this is completely out of his range for him! So...What I'm needing help on is: Good Protein Diet and how to go about it to help him lose weight, gain muscle. Balance coordnation Hockey Drills!
