How do you ice skate as a beginner?

What Ice skate is better for a beginner, the Bauer Flexlite 2.0, or the Bauer Supreme One20?

  • Hi, my son wants to start hockey and there are 2 skates he's looking at (price is an issue so we don't want to spend a lot). Since he is a beginner there are two skates he like but we want to know which one is better for him to use. The Bauer Flexlite 2.0, or the Bauer Supreme One20. they are both in a $5 price range so both are fine to buy.

  • Answer:

They both have a stainless steel blade and enough support and protection for a beginner skater. The main difference between the 2 skates is going to be the fit. If he has a particularly wide foot I would go with the Flexlite 2.0, the Flexlite series is the wide line from Bauer. If he has a regular width foot I would suggest going with the One20. Here are a few places that have them instock online if you don't have any local shops. http://www.hockey.us/boys-ice-hockey-skates/c1000003953/bauer-supreme-one-20-junior-ice-hockey-skates-2010-p186780.html http://www.hockeymonkey.com/bauer-hockey-skate-flexlite-2-jr.html

i would get the skates that are comfortable with him. i started learning to skate last winter and i found that the best skates are the ones that your feet are much more comfortable in. but you want to make sure that the skates are met at the right sort of conditions for size, real tight laces, big toe just barely touching end of skate, etc
