Who To Pick For NHL 2012 Draft?

Who will be the first overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft?

  • Answer:

I don't agree that Yakupov is an Ovie/Cros-like talent. Think of him more like Mason Raymond. Small, young, fast, good shot... There is a little more to him than Mason, in that he has hands that could probably rival Eberle, but I think there's the chance someone's taken over him. I think there's 3 people who could be taken for the top spot. Nail Yakupov Filip Forsberg Mathew Dumba Mikhail Grigorenko, from what I've heard, has shown a few weaknesses and an unwillingness to be coached, so he's fallen to more of a top 10 spot. Another top guy at one point was Ryan Murray, but he's been lackluster in play after an injury, and I think that's dropped his value quite a bit too. Personally, I'm hoping Filip goes first. He's solid. Yakupov will be interesting, though. There's still plenty of time and scouting left, things may change...

Even with his recent injury, it is almost certain to be Nail Yakupov. And he'll likely go to Columbus. The only player who could possibly move ahead of him is Mikhail Grigorenko, but that is highly unlikely. Yakupov is a Crosby/Ovechkin-like talent.
