Why is everbody trashing the Rangers?

  • Look, the Rangers are playing great right now. Everybody keeps saying they will lose next round. Nobody has really mentioned that they are dominating their opponent. They have the second most goals in the playoffs, behind Ottawa who has played 1 more game than the Rangers, otherwise they're tied. They are the only team that has not lost a game. They have the most goals in a game up until now. Every line for the Rangers are making big contributions offensively and defensively. All that garbage about them not facing a good goalie is a weak arguement too. I would put Lundqvist up against any goalie in the playoffs right now. Lundqvist is the only goalie other than Marty Turco to record a shutout thus far. Buffalo, New Jersey , Detroit, and Anaheim theoretically should be crushing the opposition, but it's not happening. All I've seen is the hottest team coming into the playoffs (which is the Rangers) continuing to dominate. I think you'll all be surprised as to their success.

    AMEN, brutha! The reason why people trash the Rangers is because they're an NYC team...it's the "cool" thing to do. As I've said for the past 3 weeks, Rangers are the darkhorse in the playoffs, and people will soon learn to respect them. They have all the right pieces to the puzzle and they're clicking on all levels. As you said, every line is contributing, both offensively and defensively, and Lundqvist is the most underrated goalie. It's funny that everyone's saying that Atlanta is the worst team in the playoffs now, yet 2 weeks ago 75% of the people here were picking Atlanta to win the series, and there were a large amount of people actually thinking Atlanta would represent the East in the Stanley Cup Finals. Time for people to realize that the Rangers are the team to beat in this playoffs....not Buffalo, not Detroit, not New Jersey....the Rangers, plain and simple.

I have to admit, I didn't give the Rangers a chance. But they are looking impressive. Lundqvist is playing great for them. Just shows how important goaltending is in the playoffs.

all those that trash the Rangers are jealous. they need to get a life and see our games. the ones that say we won't make it are the ones that didn't watch any of our recent games. they had to see what we did to the Thrashers last night. not only that but look how we kept Kovalchuk, Hossa, and Kozlov off the scoresheet most of the series. they are doing crap and thats thanks to our defense and hot goaltender HENRIK LUNDQVIST! LETS GO RANGERSSSSS! WOOOOOO ROUND #2 HERE WE COME!

Atlanta is an inexperienced team and are having a very hard time dominating. I couldn't believe Atlanta actually made it to the playoffs. The Rangers have been doing a good job of shutting down the great players on the Thrashers, and this is part of their success. Also, the Rangers are very expierenced in the playoffs and have players who have been there before. Including Matt Cullen who won the Stanley Cup last season, and was very successful in the playoffs. This is why they are playing so good. And I'm sorry, but the Thrashers do not have that great of a goalie. Even though I am a Rangers fan, and have some ties to the team, I do not think they will make it very far in the playoffs. Lundqvist is inexpierenced as well, even though he was in last season. I do not think that he will get the Rangers very far. What happens if he has to face the Devils or even the Sabres? Two very dominating team. They both have great goalies. Lundqvist is a great goalie, but he does not compare to Brodeur, Luongo and Turco. Also, they'll have a very tough time beating a Western Conference team. They have the best teams in the NHL. But who knows, they might go far. Anything and everything could happen.

I agree the Rangers are good and they are certainly playing better than Buffalo(The favorite going in) right now. I don't expect to see them in the finals though, but it's possible for sure. If they do get there, well I will admit that I will be surprised. The Ducks, Wings, Sharks and Canucks are all rolling pretty well right now I'd say. Ottawa is playing well too, they blew the one period so far and that's it really. Detroit destroyed the Flames in the first two and lost a close road game to the team with the most reg season home wins, so they are playing well too. New Jersey is not that good this year and may well lose to Tampa. The way Holmquist is playing in net, I'm saying they get through.

Three main reasons they are winning the playoffs in the first place 1. Atlanta has never been in the playoffs, they're inexperienced. 2. Bob Hartley is an idiot for switching back to kari lehtonen last night. johan hedberg let one flukey goal in and that was the difference in the game, besides that he was brilliant. 3. Avery has gotten to kovalchuk.
