What Games Are Available On NHL Vault?

Has anyone else had problems with NHL Center Ice from DirectTV and not being able to watch games in Hi Def?

  • I'm in a small market hockey town, but I like to watch all the games I can, so I ordered NHL Center Ice from DirectTV. I subscribe to their HD package as well, yet even though they advertise games that are going to be in HD from Fox Sports Net (FSN), they very rarely if ever actually broadcast them. They do have games on HDN (chnl 79) on a regular basis, but only out-of-market games because only FSN carries in-market. Does anyone else have this same problem? I have contacted DirectTV on several occassions (when they have a game scheduled that doesn't actually air) and each time I get a different answer from them. I've yet to find a person at DirectTV who can tell me what should be aired when, and why, so I've pretty much given up on them. I'm just curious how widespread this problem is...

    There are a few select games that D* shown on channel 95 that are FSN games. For the most part the games are broadcast just fine. The exception was Saturday when the Atlanta/Pittsburgh game was dark on 95. Good news on the horizon... D* is launching 2-3 more satellites in the next few months. With that there will be more HD channels available including most of the FSN Channels. Likely we will see a HD Center Ice Super Pack similar to the NFL. Hockey in HD is the best! _ Follow-up: D* does not have enough bandwidth to show all games available in HD (93-99). They select specific games of interest or playoff potential. Wait until next year, I suspect that you will see tons of HD Hockey. For this year Versus and NBC playoff games will likely be in HD. _

From what I understand from the problem is that the channel you have it on isn't a high def channel. That that channel you get NHL Center Ice does not carry a high def so you are SOL. I think.
