If the NY Islanders do move, would it be wrong for me to to be a fan of..?
-
Everyone knows there is talks of the Islanders being relocated because the vote for a new arena did not pass, and come 2015, they have to find a new arena to play in. There is talks of moving them to Brooklyn (which geographically, is on Long Island) to play with the Nets. But if they do move out of NY and go to some place like Kansas or Quebec, I need to a new number one team. Obviously I will still like the team and the players where ever they go but I need a team that I can watch and follow. So would it be wrong if I became a fan of the NY Rangers? I have mixed feelings about it. What do you guys think?

Answer:
Well, as a Coyotes fan I feel your pain to some extent, but for me the next closest team is an 8 hour drive, and I just can't see myself liking the Ducks. I don't know what I would do if the Coyotes moved, but I guess if/when they do, I'll think about it then. I recommend the same to you

A lot of Atlanta fans became Jets fans, for some it took time, but they were still able to love the Jets just as much as the Thrashers. Honestly, just follow your heart, just because a team isn't close geographically doesn't mean you still can't like them. They will also probably play the Rangers and Devils enough that you will be able to see them live.

The Original Six. Rangers and Bruins in the east. Wings and Hawks out west. Leafs up north.
The Original Six
1. Be a fan of teams that are geographically close to you, so you are able to connect with the team. If that doesn't work... 2. Follow the team that left you, so you can keep your connection. If the distance is too great and lost your sympathy... 3.Choose a a different team that you kinda like with players you like. If that doesn't work: 4.Cheer for you local team and minor affiliates. If that doesn't work: 5.Don't pay attention to the NHL. lol

I would truly be shocked to see a historic franchise, such as the Islanders, would move. However in the case that they do I would believe you would have a better chance of following the local team, such as the Rangers,or an AHL affliate, The Sound Tigers,or follow the former team.

Well, the Rangers would then become the hometown team. Not too bad. I think, if my team were to move cities, I'd just like them under whatever name they used.
IBF is mean to me
It doesnt matter where the team is located. Im a Bruins fan living on the other side of the continent and I dont miss a single game.
