How to change wheels on my roller blades?

Which Roller Hockey Wheels Should I Use?

  • Just about to start roller hockey, I have played ice for 15 years and now all that is available in my area is roller (=/) I Just purchased some skates, Mission axiom a3's, not the best but they will do for the price. They currently have 82A wheels on them. I am a female, 5'9, 135 pounds, and will be playing indoor. Do i need to get softer wheels ? Will different wheels change the grip / speed ? What should i go more for speed or grip ? Im new to this so any help is much appreciated.

  • Answer:

If it's sport court, you should definately go with a softer wheel for speed and grip. You are pretty light so 74A might work. Harder wheels are for asphalt + concrete.

softer.. 74-80.. its been a LONG time since i looked at wheels so i forget some stuff but softer will be better. the arena floors are like ice when hard wheels. Also look for 2 larger back wheels and 2 smaller front wheels to cause you to lean forward a bit more. It will change a little grip but i dont think speed.. Softer the better indoors! just keep them indoors.. pavement will tear those puppies up

Well there's different wheels, one for indoor and outdoor and you need the indoor ones they will already be set to the right grip and so you don't have to worry about that. It should say when you buy them the speed and stuff.
