What is a good workout plan for a hockey player?

Good beginner hockey player workout?

  • im a 16 yr old guy whos just starting to play ice hockey, what would be a good reccommended workout for me to do? whether its daily or weekly, what kind of exercises and drills should i do, both on and off ice? im not on a team or in a league yet so this would be with just me and a friend in the same position, were looking for exercises that apply to the right muscle groups, stick and puck handling drills, and/or possibly some skating drills

  • Answer:

to build up the muscles that you draw speed and strenghth from, doing ucla's help, just starting at the goal line and going to the near blue line and back, the red line and back, the far blue line and back and the far goal line and back you can also work on stick handling but setting your gloves on the ice about your sticks lenghth apart and skating around them with a puck, it sounds silly but trust me. start slow at first and get faster, then try to look at the puck as little as possible while your doing it. work on stick handling with the heavest ball you can find, stick handle back and forth and count to 100, then find a slightly lighter ball and do the same thing, finally work with a golf ball. this works on puck control and hand speed there are many other drills you can do, but you can pretty much make some up. just be sure to include conditioning and stick handling
