How to change wheels on my roller blades?

Im changing my rollerblade wheels from indoors to outdoors and i need to know a few things?

  • i currently own a pair of in-line roller blades, im a frequent skater on ice and on wheels outside but i am changing my wheels from the rubbery indoor wheels to outdoor wheels as they just get chewed up the answers i need are, will i be skating any differently will it be harder to do tricks does the grip go from normal rubbery indoor wheels outside best way to stop apart from doing hockey turns

  • Answer:

    1) yes asphalt + concrete has irreguliarities not found on sport court / roll-on. think of this as when you are skating on an outdoor ice surface (frozen pond, schoolyard rink neither of which sees the Zam much / mostly kept in skateable condition by kids who shovel "snow build up" off the ice and occasional wind / fresh sheet of ice as it gets colder) as opposed to freshly-zambonied ice indoors 2) Tricks as in dekes and such? see answer above 3) on a rough outdoor suface yes, and then rubbery indoor wheels will become useless for either. on a smooth outdoor surface like a tennis court, you might be able to get a couple games' out of them, but you are best to have a set of indoor wheels and a set of outdoor wheels (if changing them often, have a seperate set of bearings inside each set so you can change them out faster) 4) as explained above, on a smooth surface you should be ok but if on a rough one go a little slower and lean into your turn a bit. just don't make this a habit because a lot of ice hockey coaches will really frown upon that circle-turn of sorts.
