Why is a bouncy ball so bouncy?

Why I hit the ball better when the ball slopes away and is below my feet? Help my swing!!?

  • I just started playing golf and right now I just hit foam balls up and down my back yard. I use an old set if Ping Eye 2 irons that are standard length and lie and all that. I noticed whenever the ball is on a slope that runs away from my feet so that the ball is slightly below my feet I always hit the ball so much better. My question is why? What does my swing do when the ball is sloping away that its not doing on flat ground. Am i 2 close to the ball on flat ground? Do I need 2 choke up on the clubs? Move the ball up in my stance? Lead with my front arm more? Turn my hips later? etc etc. I feel like there is something that im forced to do when the ball slopes away but when its on flat ground im not doing it and thats why i dont hit as good. I know this might be a hard question 2 answer as u cant c my swings but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think you have your solution in your details. I think the problem is the length of your club. You hit it better off of the slope because you have to grip the end of the club. So when you golf choke up on the club, or you can go to your local golf store and have them fit your irons for you and cut them down and regrip them. It will only cost you about $10 per club. And the price for the fitting. It will improve your game and I guarantee you that it will drop at least 5 strokes from your game. Good Luck

here are a few tips that always help me when I am on flat ground - keep the ball towards the left foot in your stance - depending on the club - move your hands so they are in front of the ball when you are addressing it, don't take the club all the way back in your back swing until you find your rhythm and finally just swing the club - don't focus on hitting the ball, that will come. it kind of sounds like if the ball is sloping away from you on the slope and you hit it better - then maybe you should try to move your stance on flat ground. if you are too close to the ball, then you would hit the ground. just experiment - that is the way to fix anything and discover your potential!!

Here you go you must naturally have a flat swing a downslope make you re swing more upright this probably causes your swing to be normal.
