I used to play on both the football and golf teams back in high school. In my opinion, the best way to get your golf game back into the groove is to just keep practicing. If you haven't played at all for 4 months, you're probably going to be pretty bad the first time out. Just don't get frustrated and keep working through it. I would always be terrible for about a week of range sessions after coming off a long layoff, but then things would start to come back together. If you keep practicing, you'll probably be fine. As for working out, I did football workouts pretty much year-round except for golf season. I don't know if this works for everybody, but I found that my power really improved as a result of greater overall strength. Of course, you want to stay flexible, so be sure to stretch before and after a workout. You can also do a stretching/flexibility routine independent of a workout. Good luck on your upcoming season.

do a lot of golf oriented workouts. flexibility and core are important check out this website for a bunch of golf workouts http://www.mytpi.com/mytpi05/consumer/register.asp it costs nothing to become a member most importantly go to the range a lot so u get comfortable with your swing andputt an dchip cus those are the most important things

Trust your coach. A lot of athletes play more than one sport, and although it does take some time and practice to switch from football to golf, the mental side is very important. Just compete at your best level, focus on the sport you are involved in at the time, and have fun!

At this point, I would strongly consider choosing between the two sports. Golf is different than any other sport. Repetition is good to learn any sport. In my opinion, it is more important in golf than it is in football. If you want to excel at golf, you're going to have to focus on it solely. You can still workout and do sports related exercises for golf. Go to this website: www.coreperformance.com and click on golf and it will provide a golf specific workout. It's true because I have the regimen in front of me currently.

work on golf more than working out because you should already be fit from football season... i golf everyday and hitting balls into a net at home really helps my swing, get a cheap net and focus on contact, short game, and hitting the ball accurate not just far

Im 16 also and have gone through the same thing as you because I played football too. The thing I did to get back into golf shape was start by doing alot of flexibility workouts and do alot of stretching. During football season I would go to the range after football practice and chip and putt and go home. That really helped. One thing to do is start by hitting wedges around the green and just chip until you feel like your comfortable doing that. Next I started working on irons at the range and just trying to shape my shots. After that I started working on my woods and Driver. I didnt hit driver until after I had already hit 250 balls so I could my swing loose and really comfortable. The best thing to do is just workout and talk to your coach and see what he thinks you could do to get back in shape for golf. And just make sure you break 80 everytime, that seems to keep my coach happy so it might make yours happy.

With a name like the golf pimp, dont report abuse. Change your name first, then report anybody. Then go to the range and work on getting back your solid contact with your wedges. Then move up a club at a time until you hit the sweet spot consistently again. To get more fit strengthen your core,(Stomach, back, obliques, and shoulders) as well as getting into better aerobic shape(walking and running). Then Work on your driver. You can't recover lost balls, but you can chip out from the rough. Don't forget to work on putting. Half of your strokes in a round come from putting. If you can get to less than 34 putts per round, You may be your teams #1

you dont have to play a full round to get better jack niklaus was not an avid practicer but was one of the most athletic golfers of his time as was gary player spend your time on quality practice and flexibility training and core strengthening (which will also help w/ football) maybe you can think of how football relates to golf; for ex. a HB toss is basically the same as a pitch shot with a wedge the main diff being that the toss is more of a backhand movement from the QB while a golf pitch is a forehand movement ... get it? figure this, if par is about 72 and you are a 20 hcp then you will be shooting 92s give or take; if you only go to range sessions and shoot 185 balls or less you are practicing more than you play and a round will seem easier by comparison, IF AND ONLY IF you concentrate on what you are doing play percentages and work on the short game and putting for the majority of your sessions, then the area that costs you the most strokes, then the area you are least confident about (this is usually the same as number 2) good luck
